Tanya (Samia) Johnson
(General Secretary)

Tanya (Samia) Johnson, a Staten Island resident, retired in 2018 after a successful career that spanned over 25 years as an Assistant Executive Director of Youth Services in the non-profit sector. In preparation for her retirement in 2014, Tanya opened Wiz Kidz Daycare Academy LLC., demonstrating her commitment to providing quality, safe, and affordable care for families in need.

In addition to her daycare venture, Tanya works as a substitute teacher at Curtis High School, where she offers social and emotional support through the school's library services. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Delaware State University in 1989.

Throughout her adult life, Ms. Johnson has actively engaged with her community, volunteering for various organizations. One of her passions is track and field, along with mentoring young athletes. As a former athlete who received a full track scholarship to college, Tanya finds it essential to give back by coaching track and field with clubs such as "The Camp" and "The Starlets". She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., where she has been involved in community service activities in recent years.

Tanya's strong family values are evident in her personal life. She has been happily married for 35 years to her college sweetheart, Balign Johnson, who is the founder of BMJ LLC, a fitness and mentoring company. Together, they have four wonderful children and six grandchildren, who are the center of their lives.
